COME FULL CIRCLE AT HKUST: TAKE YOUR NEXT STEP WHERE IT ALL BEGAN!
The Full Circle @ HKUST program was launched in support of the University’s goal of fostering an entrepreneurial community, with the aim of engaging alumni businesses in showcasing new ideas and approaches on campus that will add value to the HKUST community.
How it Works
Alumni businesses will be invited on a case-by-case basis to showcase their technology / service / product on campus for a trial period. The duration of the trial period will be determined on an individual basis (maximum 3 months).
The company's founder must be an HKUST alumnus. Where there are multiple co-founders, at least one current co-founder must be an HKUST alumnus;
The technology / product / service delivered must add value to members of the HKUST community (faculty, staff, students, and alumni), including offering discounts for HKUST users where applicable;
The technology / product / service should contribute towards making HKUST a sustainable smart campus;
The technology / product / service must be ready-made or in testing stage (development stage not accepted);
The technology / product / service should be unique (ie. there should be a marked difference from existing products and services on campus)
By invitation only. The Development and Alumni Office will invite alumni businesses on a case-by-case basis, in consultation with the Vice-President for Institutional Advancement and relevant stakeholders in the University community
The Development and Alumni Office reserves the right of final decision and the right to refuse, modify or terminate trial runs when it is deemed necessary
The trial period (maximum 3 months), move-in date and other logistics required will be determined on a case-by-case basis
The Development and Alumni Office and related departments will assist with any promotions required for implementing the technology / product / service
After the showcase period, participants will be asked to complete an evaluation report which will be shared with the University community
The Development and Alumni Office may arrange the following non-monetary resources for participating alumni companies, to be determined on a case-by-case basis:
Space allocation on campus (classroom, Atrium, etc)
Wireless / LAN internet connection
Furniture (tables, chairs, etc.)
Participants must comply with the University’s data privacy regulations and sign a non-disclosure form where needed
Intellectual property rights will be agreed upon by all parties involved prior to the implementation of the trial run
Please contact the Development and Alumni Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 3469-2470 with any inquiries.
The Belun Ring helps you discover the quality of your sleep—at home, comfortably, by simply putting on your ring before sleep. You will uncover the mysteries of sleep: risk of having sleep apnea, stress level and sleep quality. Combining ICT technologies, bio-sensing, signal processing technologies and artificial intelligence, the ring pre-screens potential sufferers from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a common (and potentially dangerous) sleep disorder where an individual will stop breathing repeatedly during a night of sleep. Sleep apnea is caused by complete or partial blockage of the upper airway. People with this disorder involuntary pause in breathing during sleep for at least 10 seconds and are shown to undergo a significant drop in blood oxygen saturation (SpO2).
Instead of checking for OSA during a stressful overnight stay in a hospital, users can put on the Belun Ring before going to bed at home for OSA pre-screening. The ring will collect data including user's pulse rate, blood oxygen saturation levels and body movements during sleep.
