Benny Hui

Benny began his entrepreneurial journey at the age of twenty, when he founded his first HR start-up with the support of HKUST. He then spent several years honing his sales skills and accumulating in-depth knowledge in the finance / insurance sector—achieving Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in the first year of his career—before taking up the role of Executive Director for a Hong Kong-listed company, where he was responsible for M&A and completed a $700 million deal. Two years later, Benny's career took him to Singapore where he was the General Manager of a big data start-up focusing on real estate and co-founded Hong Kong Real Estate Exchange (HRX) which was later acquired by a Singapore listed company. Most recently, Benny has turned his sights to the real estate arena in Hong Kong, joining tech start-up Spacious as its COO.

Spacious is an online platform that connects buyers and tenants with residential properties. What differentiates it from other online property aggregators is that it is map-based, meaning users can search for properties in specific locations based on their preferred criteria. For home seekers who want more in-depth understanding of their neighborhood, Spacious also provides information on the area's demographics, the political parties of the district councilors, and even which properties are considered to be "haunted."

Benny leads the operations, business development and Asia expansion team of Spacious, building sales and market entry strategies in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Taipei. Under his guidance, Spacious managed to triple its revenue within 3 months and achieved double digit revenue growth MOM.

Outside of his work, Benny is also a strong supporter of HKUST. He previously served as a Standing Committee Member of the HKUST Convocation from 2011-2013. He was a mentor for the HKUST REDbird program, and returned to campus as a guest speaker to share his career story with students. In 2018, Benny is helping to give HKUST students a boost in their professional development by joining the HeadStart program as a mentor and corporate sponsor. He is also widely recognized as a pioneer in real estate technology (RE Tech) and was invited to be a speaker in MIPIM Asia.
