Executive Medical Director
Eddy has over a decade of local and global industry experience in clinical development, medical affairs and marketing. His interest in the pharmaceutical sector arose from the first International BioCamp where he not only won the Outstanding Student Award but also received a job offer. He began his career with Novartis in 2006 and was later stationed in Basel, Switzerland, where he served as Medical Director for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and African Countries (AMAC) region. In 2015, he left for Shanghai to take up the position of Medical Director, China at Allergan.
Over the course of his career, Eddy drove several major Clinical development programs and regional studies, in particular PMS, retrospective and head-to-head interventional studies. He also designed and developed speaker training, advisory board programs, treatment guidelines, KOL advocacy and development plans. Eddy has received numerous awards for his achievements, including the Most Desirable Rookie and Novartis Golden Employee awards when he first joined Novartis as a Medical Liaison Officer; and the Asia Pacific Best Practice (Medical Science Liaison) Award in 2008.
His time at HKUST has greatly helped Eddy to broaden his horizons. "As PhD students we were required to be published in at least two peer-reviewed journals and attend one international congress. This really showed us that although we might consider ourselves big in Hong Kong, we had to see things from a global perspective," he remarks. Eddy is particularly grateful to his mentor and former PhD supervisor Professor Yung Hou Wong, now Head of Biochemistry and Director of Biotechnology Research Institute, for inspiring him to approach issues from a wide range of perspectives.
