A passionate community leader, award-winning Toastmaster, and proud HKUST alumnus, Sean lives by the motto "Live in Excellence, Forwarding the Best." He serves in the Hong Kong Police Force where he is Chief Inspector of Police as well as a crisis negotiator.
Sean was recognized for his excellent professional endeavors and active participation in social services with the 2006 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award. He has excelled as a toastmaster and won an array of awards at various international speech and toastmaster contests, including the National English Evaluation Speech Champion, China in 2011. His achievements also include the 2012 Asia-Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements Honoree – Senior Information Security Professional.
Aside from holding numerous local and international public offices, Sean is enthusiastic about supporting HKUST. He was the Founding Chairman of Convocation and represented alumni in the University Council. He was formerly President of the HKUST Alumni Association from 2002 to 2008, Founding President of the HKUST Students' Union, and Chairman of the HKUST Students' Union Organizing Committee. He is frequent speaker at various student events
Sean also holds numerous professional qualifications and speaks regularly on TV, press, podcast, new media, seminars, universities and international conferences. He is a Founding Speaker of the Hong Kong Speakers Bureau, a social enterprise established in 2013 that connects quality public speakers with various speaking opportunities and provides communications training to individuals. He founded the Hong Kong MBA Toastmasters Club where he is now Co-VP Education. Sean is a part-time Lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Journalism and Communication, where he offers the course "Cybercrime and Law" for the Master of Science in New Media Program. He is also the Membership Director for the Hong Kong Chapter of ISACA, an international, non-profit organization focused on IT governance. He is keen to nurture the next generation and has been a mentor to over 200 young leaders.
